COMMISSION FOR 2811 MAPLE AVE, DALLAS, TEXAS

Brendan Jamison's International Sculpture Studio received a commission to create 3 site-specific artworks for the lobby of 2811 Maple Ave, a new 30 storey skyscraper in downtown Dallas. This project is the brainchild of Mayfield and Ragni Studio (MaRS), a multi-award winning interior architecture and design company in Houston. Jamison and his sculpture Mark Revels received the invitation in January 2022 and the sculptures were built in Northern Ireland over 5 months during June-October 2024, with shipment to the USA in November 2024.

Jamison states: "These sculptures are inspired by 2 decades of creating elaborate sugar cube sculptures, based on the beauty and perfect proportions of the cube in architecture and interior design. In a new development for this series in Dallas, light is allowed to flood through the abstract steel figures in open cube segments. Therefore, as the viewer approaches the artworks from any angle, the figures allow a connection between the exterior and interior of 2811 Maple. The sculptures appear in dialogue with each other, as if an imaginary conversation is taking place between a mother, father and child. The family of 3 arise from a pool of shimmering turquoise fragments of glass, simulating the sense of calm and relaxation of a desert island paradise where everything appears in perfect harmony with nature."
